Message to Our Members: May 2020

On behalf of your staff on Cape Cod, we wish all of our members the best during these very difficult times. We may not be able to be together at our office or with you at events, but we are working extremely hard to provide support to our members and to ensure that our events and trips will go on when the time and situation allows.

We have embraced the motto of #TogetherAtHome because we are committed to preparing for great and fun days ahead. The strength and character of our association is strong, and we look forward to coming back together and making all future trips the best ones ever.

In the meantime, we ask that you take a moment to review the following information which includes a message from President Ed Gillespie, Annual Dues notification and a comprehensive event schedule update through 2021.

Message From Our President

Greetings from South Carolina. I hope this note finds our entire extended family well and in good health. We all find ourselves in a very difficult and strange time.  Similar to all businesses and organizations, large and small, International Seniors is processing new information and is making decisions on almost a daily basis.  I am very pleased to report that due to the diligent stewardship of past Executive Committees and Boards, today, we are in a strong financial position. International Seniors is a non-profit member club that over the years has built a comfortable financial equity base as a reserve against unforeseen events.

Annual Dues are a very modest $250 per year. These funds go towards paying our management contract to The Duhamel Group (Alex, Kevin and Marty), for conducting the business of the Society as well as planning and executing our events. With the contraction in our activities some variable costs do go down, however, many of the fixed costs of maintaining the organization continue. Your support over the years is greatly appreciated and it is our fervent hope that we can continue to rely on that support going forward. Our fiscal year runs from May 1st through April 30th, each year at this time dues notices are sent to each member. Your continued support for the current fiscal year is much appreciated.  If current circumstances are causing any financial concern in regards to the payment of dues, please let Kevin know. In any case, no one will be removed from membership rolls this coming year. We hope that the coming weeks begin to bring better news in regards to the fight against COVID-19 and that we are soon able to travel again freely to enjoy the company of our fellow members and friends both on and off the golf course.

The event originally scheduled for Ireland this June has been postponed to June 5-12, 2021.  All members who signed up for 2020 event and are now planning to join us in 2021 are having their places held in that event.  Those who are not able to participate in Killarney next June have been refunded in full. Our October event in Portugal remains sold out with a waitlist. While we are hopeful that large improvements to the current world situation will allow us to conduct this tournament as planned, we want you to be assured that we will never put members in a dangerous or uncomfortable situation.  As previously noted, we are in a strong financial position, this financial flexibility allows us to make the best decisions for our members.

How to Submit Annual Dues

The International Seniors Golf Association Fiscal Year is from May through the end of April. The annual fee for all ISAGS members is $250.

To make this process as easy as possible for you, we have developed a secure online payment process very similar to the one many of you have used to sign up for events.

Please click on the link below and use your email address and password  to pay your dues with a credit card. Once there, please also take the time to verify that we have your address information correct and contact our office with any changes.

Event Schedule Update

Below is an update on the status of our future events. We continue to work  closely with our trip organizers, host facilities and public and health officials to manage all changes and to ensure the safety and comfort of our members.

October 3-10, 2020
Quinta do Lago Golf Club/Hotel Quinta do Lago in Algarve, Portugal

Event Status: The 2020 Summer Championship is currently still scheduled as planned and there is a waitlist in place. We are continually in contact with our hosts and will monitor the situation to ensure that this will be a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Any decisions or changes will be made with the interests of our members as our top priority.

About This Event: The Quinta do Lago will be the site of our Summer Championship. It was recently recognized by Golf Digest as a recipient of its ‘2019 Editors’ Choice Award for the Best Resorts in Continental Europe’. The Portuguese facility features three outstanding golf courses – North, South and Laranjal – which will provide our members with a variety of challenges.

Our accommodations will be second to none as we will enjoy our stay at Hotel Quinta do Lago, a unique resort on Portugal’s pristine Algarve coast. Known as a haven for nature and golf enthusiasts, Hotel Quinta do Lago is set amidst 2,000 acres of pine forests, saltwater lakes, lagoons and amazing golf courses which we will play throughout our stay as well as scenic bird-watching paths and nature trails, creating the perfect combination between nature and pleasure.

Killarney Golf and Fishing Club/Europe Hotel

Event Status: The 2020 Mid-Winter Championship scheduled has been rescheduled for 2021. Those originally registered for this event have had their spots secured, while those who are now unable to participate have been refunded in full.

About This Event: Our members will travel to the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club and will include play on two of the Ireland’s best-known 18-hole championship golf courses – Killeen and Mahony’s Point. The course has hosted many high-profile events such as four Irish Opens, the European Amateur Team Championship, the Curtis Cup and the Ladies Cup Championship among many other great events.

Our accommodations will be the five-star The Europe Hotel & Resort in Killarney, which overlooks the world famous Lakes of Killarney. The Europe Hotel & Resort is one of the leading luxury hotels in not just Killarney, but in all of Ireland.
